The Benefits of a Gas Boiler Replacement
Your gas boiler is one of the most important pieces of equipment in your home. It is a vital component of your central heating system, keeping your rooms warm when its cold outside, and delivering hot water whenever you need it.
Because it is such an integral part of your life, you can easily become blind to it. Every time you turn on a tap, do you consider your boiler? When the radiators are taking away the chill on a winter afternoon, do you sit and wonder about your boiler?
The fact of the matter is that your boiler can give you years of service and is often given little thought – but just like any mechanical or electrical device, it will experience wear and tear, potential degradations in performance, and may one day simply stop working requiring the service of an Emergency Plumber Dublin Residents need.
The benefits of replacing your gas boiler can be numerous. You’ll find that modern gas boilers use less energy to provide the same level of heating as older models, and they’re often quieter, smaller, and safer.
When should I replace my gas boiler?
There is no fixed time to replace your gas boiler, and many boilers will last for ten years or more, possibly even twenty or thirty years. However, when they get to a certain stage, you should replace your gas boiler.
A boiler will need regular servicing and maintenance, and will occasionally need repairing, just as any other device might. When the repairs are needed every few months, you can be sure that the components of your boiler are starting to wear out.
Replacing your boiler, with NRM Plumbing and Heating will instantly reduce the requirement for repair and will save money in the long run. You’ll still need to have your boiler serviced regularly, but in comparison to repairs, it’s a simple and quick job.
Servicing helps to maintain the safety of your boiler, but the older your boiler is, the more likely it is to experience problems. Unfortunately, some boiler problems are invisible to the human eye and can be deadly. An old boiler will be prone to leaking carbon monoxide which can kill.
Aside from this, there are many practical reasons to replace your boiler. If your energy bills are slowly creeping higher, one potential cause is the lowering efficiency of your boiler. Modern replacement boilers are much more efficient than older boilers, giving you faster heating, quicker access to hotter water, and reducing your overall energy bill by simply using less gas to deliver the same result.
This efficiency doesn’t just affect the cost, it also helps the environment. Old boilers would be 70% efficient as a maximum when they were new, with that figure dropping every year the boiler is in service. Modern boilers can provide 90% efficiency, using less gas and producing less CO2 in the process.
For those times when you’re enjoying a little peace and quiet, a new boiler can help maintain the mood by producing heat in a much quieter way. When an older boiler fires up, you can often hear it all around the house. New boilers are much less noisy, and many have the added benefit of being smaller than your existing boiler.
If you’ve always wanted a little extra space but haven’t been able to arrange things as you like because of your boiler, choosing a boiler that occupies less space can help greatly.
Convenience is Everywhere
Boiler replacement products can provide many convenience benefits. With your old boiler, you may only be able to have heating and hot water together – it would either be on or off. Modern boilers facilitate separate heating and hot water, and hot water can be provided on demand. You don’t need to wait for a hot water cylinder to fill, and you only heat the water you need, once again improving efficiency.
Thermostats in different rooms can provide different temperatures to each location, and you can define multiple programmes with a timer. If you’re at work and don’t need the heating on during certain days, you can simply set the system up to your requirements.
You can even incorporate smart home features and access the controls remotely – if you’ve been out and it has suddenly turned cold, the heating can be switched on before you get back so you can walk into a delightfully warm home.
